Gruut Bruin is a dark brown beer with an orange tinge, and has a medium sized beige head which settles slowly. The sweet aroma is of caramel malts and dried fruits, with the undoubted spices coming through as well. The flavour is full and sweet, picking up on the malts and fruits while at the same time having a mild bitterness. This beer has a persistent aftertaste which is believed to come from a mixture of nuts used in the brewing process.Overall this is a very interesting take on the classic Belgian ‘dubbel’ style.
