Spencer Trappist Ale is a full-bodied, golden-hued ale with fruity accents, a dry finish and light hop bitterness. The recipe was inspired by the sessionable ales known as patersbier (“fathers’ beer” in Flemish) brewed by monks for their dinner table. It is unfiltered and unpasteurised, preserving live yeast that naturally carbonates the beer in the bottle. All Spencer ales are brewed by the Trappist monks of St. Joseph’s Abbey in Spencer, Massachusetts. Sales of the beer provide for the community and their charitable outreach.
